The government on March 24 opened 75,000 vacancies for “myadi” police, inviting people in the age group 18 to 54 years to be deployed for the May 14 polls. Retired Army and police personnel will get priority for the positions.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Sarbendra Khanal, the spokesperson for Nepal Police, data from the district police offices until Tuesday evening show that over 45,000 people have applied for the jobs. The application deadline is March 30. “We hope there will be enough applications to select eligible candidates,” said SSP Khanal.
According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, the selection process will last from April 1 to April 3. The list of the successful candidates will be published on April 4. The candidates will undergo a 13-day training beginning on April 7.
These recruits, who will work for 55 days, will get a monthly salary of Rs17,230.
The Home Ministry has said 226,000 personnel from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Army and the temporary police will be mobilised for conducting the elections.
