Police arrested a woman for allegedly killing her newborn daughter at Jhaukhel in Changunarayan Municipality-3, Bhaktapur, on Wednesday.

The suspect has been identified as Saili Tamang, 21, of Gausara-1, Ramechhap district, currently residing at Jhaukhel in Changunarayan-3, Bhaktapur.

Saili was in labour pain since Wednesday morning and her husband Megh Bahadur Tamang had gone to his village to arrange money, it has been learnt.

When Megh returned home and took his wife to the District Hospital, doctors informed that child was already delivered.

He, after not seeing the baby with the mother, lodged a complaint at a police station in Bhaktapur.

Following the complaint, police arrested Saili for investigation.

During the interrogation, Saili admitted that she murdered the baby girl immediately after the birth and buried her near the room.

Police said that they are looking into the case.
