The Biratnagar-based Koshi Zonal Police Office has recently launched ‘operation delta’ in Dharan of Sunsari district to crackdown on supply and sale of narcotics and controlled drugs.

According to SSP Uttam Kumar Karki, the operation was launched in Dharan to curb the sale and supply of the controlled drugs as the eastern town was turning into a hotbed for drug smuggling of late.

The police office has also suggested parents to regularly keep an eye on their children to save them from the risk of getting into drugs.

“Children are misusing the money sent by their parents from abroad,” said SSP Karki, adding, “Dealers have been selling the contraband drugs targeting such vulnerable children.”

Dharan police have been arresting two persons in possession of drugs daily.

SSP Karki said police have confiscated drugs worth around Rs 50 million from Dharan till date.

Police on March 24 had arrested Nabin Gurung of Dharan-5 in possession of psychoactive drugs worth around Rs 1 million following the launch of ‘operation delta’.
