Thapa, who is also the deputy prime minister and minister for federal affairs and local development, instructed party members to take the RPP’s agendas to the people’s doors in view of the upcoming elections slated for May 14. “Local elections that we have been calling for are going to take place very soon,” said Thapa who arrived in Parbat on Monday. “You have to reach out to people with the party’s agendas,” he instructed party activists.
The RPP, which is the fourth largest force in Parliament, has decided to made reinstatement of Hindu state and democracy with monarchy it agendas for the upcoming polls.
However, the EC on March 17 had removed Hindu state and monarchy from the RPP’s party statute, saying the portions contravened the constitutional provisions on secularism and federal order. The RPP has objected to the move.
During his visit to Baglung on Monday itself, Thapa said local elections would be held on the announced day. “Local elections are being held after a gap of 20 years. Everyone should work to make these polls successful,” he added.
