Nirnaya the NSK to break hiatus with Ek Nepal
"The album is a collection of hip-hop numbers infused with patriotism"
Apr 5, 2017-After a decade-long hiatus, rapper Nirnaya Shrestha, known for hip-hop staples such as Din Pani Bityo and Yestai Taal Chha, is all set to return to the music industry, with his new album, Ek Nepal—NSK Style. The album, the rapper’s sixth, will release later this week, Shrestha announced at a press meet held in Lazimpat on Monday.
During the event, Shrestha also unveiled the somewhat eccentric cover of the upcoming album. “This is our new experiment,” the rapper said upon unveiling the album, the design of which resembles an ATM card. “Our motive is to move ahead embracing the technologies available to us,” he added. The album will be released on a 16 GB pendrive and the cover will feature the singer’s photograph on one side and the buyer’s photo on the flip.
The event also introduced three of the songs from the new album—Aaja Mero Nepal, Happy Birth Day and Ma Timro Nepal. The album mixes the rapper’s new and old songs.
“Specifically, the album is a collection of hip-hop numbers infused with patriotism,” said Shrestha. “The country is going through hard times, even to the point of potentially splitting up,” Shrestha added. “We all should unite to save it.”
Meanwhile, speaking about his long-term hiatus from the music industry, the rapper said, “I was busy with other commitments.”
Since the year 2006, Shrestha has been engaged with the campaign, NSK Tour for Education, reaching out to several schools and colleges in far-flung districts. “So far, I have donated about rupees ten lakhs for books and stationery,” Shrestha informed. “I wish no one should be deprived of such a fundamental right as education is.”
Speaking about the conception of the forthcoming album, Shrestha said, “Over the years, I travelled around the country and observed the society. Naturally I was more inclined to write songs with patriotic motifs. The words I wrote have naturally come out as patriotic.”
The album features singles and duets, where the rapper has collaborated with artists such as Aastha B, Prashna Shakya, and Subani Moktan. The album will be available for purchase on Sasto Deal.
