A woman constable of the Nepal Police in Dailekh district has filed a harassment complaint against her superior officer.A woman constable of the Nepal Police in Dailekh district has filed a harassment complaint against her senior officer.
Rekha Kunwar of the Naumule Area Police office, currently deployed at the District Police Office for the ongoing recruitment of the temporary police, filed a harassment complaint demanding action against DSP Kedar Rajaure.
Kunwar has filed the complaint at the Bheri Zone Police Chief Office attributing to the Mid-Western Regional Police Chief and Police Headquarters Women and Children Cell.
“The DSP grabbed me by the hair and hit me behind my neck even when I had done nothing wrong,” reads the complaint, “There was no reason for him to physically assault me. If I had committed any wrong doing in course of the duty then my senior officer (DSP Rajaure) should have called me to the office and taken action. I demand action be taken against him for abusing his authority by assaulting me in public space.”
However, DSP Rajaure has refuted the allegations leveled against him saying that he had just scolded the constable on duty. Furthermore, Mid-Western Regional Police Chief DIG Bijaya Lal Kayastha expressed anger towards the complainant saying that the woman constable is turning a mountain out of a mole. He responded to the incident in an irresponsible manner DIG Kayastha said, “It looks like she needs to be taught a lesson.”
Meanwhile, Kunwar’s colleagues have expressed their dissatisfaction over the department’s failure to probe the incident and being indulged in the protection of the accused.
