During the meeting, Minister Sharma said the Bill was brought with an objective to control the power theft and to bring guilty involved in such irregularities to book.
The Bill that is viewed as an important tool for attaining economic development was introduced to the House after long discussions and efforts.
On the occasion, the Energy Minister underlined the need of forming an independent commission to make the power trade easier, systematic, transparent and simplified.
He went on to say that the country had been moving towards the path of economic progress and prosperity with the ending of load-shedding.
The government had launched the 'Nepal's Water People's Investment' campaign to promote the hydropower sector with the use of domestic capital, he added.
Before presenting the Bill, the meeting rejected a protest note registered by lawmakers Prem Suwal, Dilli Prasad Kafle and Anuradha Thapa Magar against the Bill. The note was refused by majority. RSS
