Apr 18, 2017-
In an attempt promote Nepali literature beyond the borders, the Nepali Community from South Asian University, New Delhi is organising an International Nepali Poetry Festival in May.
The festival aims to bridge the gap between Nepali poets, writers, and literature enthusiasts spread across the world. It also envisions bringing Nepali writers together to connect and collaborate.
Making a call for submission through Facebook and other social media platforms, the organisers have already received more than 100 poems from Nepali writers from around the world. Writers based in Nepal, USA, UK, Japan, and Indian towns in Darjeeling, Sikkim, and Assam, among others have shown keen interest to join the festival.
The jury of the festival shall finalise only 30 poems in Nepali language by 30 different poets who will travel to New Delhi to recite their poems to a live audience. Renowned poets such as Nabraj Lamsal and Sarubhakta from Kathmandu, Rajendra Bhandari from Sikkim, Bhupinder Basnet from Dehradun, and Daibaki Timilsina from Assam are expected to be in attendance.
The festival is slated to take place at South Asian University, on May 21.
