After suffering a loss of more than $10 billion from the exploding Note 7 fiasco, Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+ needs to take the market by storm and change negative perceptions about the company.
For this purpose, Samsung has introduced some revolutionary features in its new phones. “The new phones contain cutting-edge technology and revolutionary features,” said Pranaya Ratna Sthapit, head of HHP division of Samsung Nepal.
One feature is its new digital assistant, Bixby. Bixby is expected to have better performance than its peer digital assistants because of its ability to offer personalised navigation and recognition services.
The phones come with advanced security measures such as iris-scanner, facial recognition and a fingerprint scanner on the rear. The water and dust resistant phone has a slot for dual SIMs and has an internal memory of 64GB which is expandable up to 256GB using a microSD card.
Both the S8 and S8+ comes with a 12MP camera on the rear and an 8MP camera on the front. The camera is highlighted for its quick focus, facial recognition and improved photo quality when shooting under low light conditions. The major highlight of the phone’s design is what Samsung calls ‘Infinite Display’. The display gets its name because of the curved edges of the phone which makes the display appear as though it has no bezels on the sides.
Both phones have elongated displays that cover 18% more of the screens than previous Galaxy S phones. Samsung has embedded the home button inside the display in order to save space and make the device more compact.
The new phones from Samsung have a wide variety of accessories such as the Virtual Reality (VR) set powered by Oculus and the Gear 360 camera, which is able to capture 360 degree videos and viewed using a VR set.
Samsung has also introduced a feature called, Samsung DeX. When you dock your brand new Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8+ with a separate Samsung dock connected to an external monitor, you can transform your phone into a computer. Instead of seeing apps, you can experience a full-fledged desktop experience. You can view 4k videos, create presentations and do things that you normally do on your laptop.
The phones can be also be charged wirelessly and support Adaptive Fast Charging.
