“Indian is plotting against the implementation of the constitution, thereby subverting it, by using the ruling CPN (Maoist Centre), Nepali Congress and Madhes-based parties,” said Rawal, “At a time when there is a sound environment for the elections, the ruling parties under pressure from India has brought the constitution amendment proposal that could potentially dismantle the constitution.”
Speaking during a press meet organised at Dhangadi on Wednesday Rawal said, “The ruling parties are working to fulfill the demands of the foreign power [India] that tried to thwart the constitution by imposing blockade after its promulgation.”
The UML Vice-Chair alleged the ruling parties of making grave anti-national move by curtailing the rights if the citizens given by the constitution, increasing the number of local units in an unscientific and impolitical way citing population density and granting of the citizenship so as to put the Nepali people in minority.
Rawal said that tabling the amendment bill after all election preparations were complete is a ploy to halt the local level polls.
