A delegation led by deputy Parliamentary Party leader Subash Nembang on Wednesday called on Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav and commissioners, drawing their attention towards the possibility of an influence to the second-phase elections by the immediate vote counts of the first elections.
On the occasion, EC commissioners were urged to be attentive towards the sensitivity, credibility and reliability of the elections.
The delegation expressed its disapproval to the government and EC decision to revise the election schedule and to conduct the elections in two rounds in a 'long-gap' without what it said consulting the party.
During the meeting, the delegation said that the EC should take the responsibility to maintain the credibility and impartiality of elections.
Stating that the party was geared up for the elections by respecting the earlier decision to hold the elections in the single-phase on May 14, the delegation claimed that the declaration to conduct in two rounds came abruptly was itself wrong.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, Nembang claimed that the government plan to announce the budget on May 29 amidst the first and second elections would be violation of the election code of conduct.
