The ruling parties and main opposition CPN-UML on Wednesday had reached an agreement to roll back on the recent decision to increase the number of local units in 11 districts paving way for the resumption of the obstructed Legislature-Parliament. The same agreement has disappointed the Madhes-centric parties.
A leader present at today’s meeting said that PM Dahal told the Gathabandan leaders that the government had not fully rolled back on its decision to increase the local units saying that he would come to a decision on the matter after holding discussions with the Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Kamal Thapa.
Today’s meeting also discussed the fast tracking of the constitution amendment bill, informed PM Dahal’s secretariat.
Likewise, the meeting also decided to call another meeting of leaders of the parties represented in the parliament on Friday after holding unofficial discussions today.
Another meeting with the Gathabandan leaders is scheduled for 2pm today at the Federal Affairs and Local Development Ministry.
