Maoist Centre picks PM’s daughter for Bharatpur mayoral race

Maoist Chitwan in-charge Ishwori Bhattarai said that Renu’s name had been approved unanimously for the local level elections slated for May 14. Her name has been forwarded to the party central office, he added. Renu is the party’s politburo member.
The Maoist Centre also recommended Surendra Gurung for the post of deputy mayor from Bharatpur. The party said that it would officially announce the names of candidates at press meet on Friday.
Parties form alliance for local polls
The ruling CPN (Maoist Centre) and Nepali Congress (NC) have formed an election alliance for the upcoming local polls in Myagdi district. Paudel, district coordinator of Maoist Centre, said the NC and Maoist Centre made a 7-point agreement to forge alliance in Beni Municipality, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Mangala Village Councils.
Meanwhile in Lamjung, the UML and the Maoist Centre formed an alliance for the local level elections. Leaders of both the parties agreed to form “Samyukta Morcha” to secure the leadership at the local units.
