At least 60 huts and sheds were reduced to ashes in a massive fire at Chitayepuruwa in Daduwa Village Council-1, Banke district, on Friday.At least 60 huts and sheds were reduced to ashes in a massive fire at Chitayepuruwa in Daduwa Village Council-1, Banke district, on Friday.
According to Inspector Bir Bahadur Thapa of the District Police Office, the fire had started from the house of Gyani Yadav at around 3:30 pm.
Security personnel and villagers struggled to douse the fire fuelled by strong winds. A fire engine from Nepalgunj failed to arrive on time due to a poor condition of roads. The flames were doused after relentless efforts of three hours.
Meanwhile, in Kapilvastu, a boy died in a fire that tore through a settlement at Hathihawa in Suddhodan Village Council-8 on Friday. Police identified the deceased as two-year-old Shyam Kurmi, son of Om Prakash Kurmi. Seven houses were burnt to cinders in the blaze.
