Nidhi leads the Nepali Congress (NC), the largest constituent of the current ruling coalition, in the Cabinet.
Nidhi’s resignation comes following the registration of an impeachment motion against Chief Justice Sushila Karki.
According to DPM Nidhi’s personal aide Birendra Yadav, Nidhi has serious reservations over the move to register impeachment motion against CJ Karki without his knowledge. It has been learnt that his supporters have been heading to Baluwater to submit his resignation.
Lawmakers from Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN (Maoist Centre) registered an impeachment motion at the parliament secretariat against CJ Karki on Sunday citing various reasons including her interference with the executive.
I have resigned from the post of Deputy PM/Home Minister effective today. I'm committed for constitution amendment & successful elections.
