A meeting of the party headquarters took place at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar on Monday, the party stated that the impeachment motion was moved against Karki to boost the image of judiciary. The party further said that the interference with the government’s executive was against the rule of law and democracy.
In the meeting, Prime Minister and party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal briefed the meeting about the impeachment motion against Karki, according to party spokesperson Pampha Bhusal.
The meeting concluded that the impeachment motion would not affect the local level elections slated for May 14 and June 14.
"The government is committed to holding the elections on the announced dates," the meeting declared.
The meeting discussed the issues of constitution amendment, elections preparations and recent political developments.
The party is holding a meeting to discuss the same issues this evening, Bhusal informed.
