Laxman Khatiwada was one of 40 Brisbane International Student Ambassadors appointed by Lord Mayor Graham Quirk for the 2017 year during a ceremony at City Hall on April 12.
Khatiwada is doing a Masters in Professional Accounting at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Upon his appointment as one the student ambassadors Khatiwada said Brisbane’s climate, natural environment and multi-cultural diversity made him feel like at home in Nepal.
“The Brisbane River is the same as "Bagmati", the river flows in the middle of my city and I love to be around it,” he said, “The foods, street festivals and beauty of this city never made me feel alone.”
The ambassadors’ roles will see them enjoy many quintessential Brisbane experiences, volunteer at multicultural events and assist with hosting official visiting delegations.
