He made such remark in a meeting with Foreign Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat, who is currently in Delhi to participate in a programme. According to Mahat, Swaraj praised a democratic practice going to happen in the neighborhood through the local elections.
“She expressed best wishes for the successful local level elections and assured all types of assistances,” Mahat told Post after the meeting. The two leaders also discussed the wide-range of bilateral issues. “We concluded that high-level visits between the two countries have contributed to enhance the bilateral relation,” Mahat added.
Both the Ministers discussed the recent developments in India-Nepal relations, particularly recent high-level bilateral exchanges and implementation of all ongoing bilateral economic and developmental cooperation projects.
“Both the Ministers reiterated their commitment to further strengthen and deepen the age-old, close and friendly ties in diverse sectors of mutual interest,” said a statement issued by India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
“Foreign Minister of Nepal spoke about the elections in Nepal and the ongoing efforts of his government to take all stakeholders on board in the constitution implementation process. Foreign Minister of Nepal thanked India for extending logistical assistance for elections,” the statement read. Mahat is currently in India to attend a seminar on economic diplomacy organised by Nepal Embassy in New Delhi.
