The Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) golfer Shrestha carded fourth successive one-under 71 for a total of four-under 284 secure the 35th professional career title. Along with the trophy, the Nepal No 1 pro Shrestha also received Rs 110,000. Shrestha had a two-stroke lead over Surya Prasad Sharma going into the final round and was never threatened on Thursday.
Sharma, who had five-stroke lead over Shrestha in the first two rounds, carded a final round two-over 74 for a total of one-over 289 and finish in second. Sharma received Rs 70,000. Sanjay Lama of Army Club ended up in third at two-over 290 after carding two-over 74 in the final round. Lama got Rs 50,000. Rame Magar (73) and Gokarna Club pro Bhuwan Nagarkoti (72) were tied for fourth at four-over 289 to share Rs 37,500 each. Rajendra Thapa Magar (74) was sixth at 295 and earned Rs 30,000.
Jayaram Shrestha (73) and Rabi Khadka (77) finsihed tied for seventh at 11-over 299 and shared Rs 26,000 apiece. Pashupati Sharma (75) rounded up in ninth at 303 and earned Rs 23,000. The Army club pro Dhana Thapa finished 10th at 304 after carding one-under 71 to receive Rs 21,000. Tanka Bahadur Karki clinched the amateur championship after shooting one-over 73 for a total card of four-over 292. Tenzing Tsering in second behind Karki at seven-over 295 after carding the final round two-under 70.
In all, 40 players—33 pros and seven amateurs—took part in the seventh event off the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2016-17. The tournament offered Rs 600,000 in prize money.
