Election Commission (EC) has decided to validate the ballot papers where the voters have put more than one stamps in a single box containing election symbol.Election Commission (EC) has decided to validate the ballot papers where the voters have put more than one stamps in a single box containing election symbol.
Considering that voters could stamp twice in single box containing two election symbols of single party in seventh column of the ballot paper, the EC decided to validate such stamping. Many voters expressed confusion about double symbol in one box while there single symbol in other boxes.
The EC had used double symbol in one of the boxes to separate first and second candidate for ward member under open category. The EC also said that vote counting would be done separately from one ward to another. EC said that the counting of votes would begin right after voting is over. "The authority of fixing vote counting location and time has been given chief election officer or election officers," said Gopinath Mainali, secretary of EC. The EC has clarified the certain issues related to validity of the votes. It said it would give recognition to ballot papers which the polling officer has signed in ink other than pencil as valid ballot paper. If the ballot paper is torn without being separated during their arrangement after polls are over but the stamp of voting is clearly visible, such votes will also be recognized as being valid.
