The main opposition CPN-UML has demanded re-polling at the election centres where basic norms of polls and the code of conduct were violated.
“We demand that the Election Commission cancel the voting conducted without following the basic standards,” UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokhrel said in a statement. The party thanked voters for their enthusiast participation in the first phase of local level elections. Though the polls were peaceful in most of the places, the UML was concerned over the “violent activities of the ruling parties” in districts including Kavre, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Humla, Dhading and Dailekh.
