Speaking to mediapersons during a press conference organised by Regional Election Office, Morang in Biratnagar on Tuesday, CEC Yadav said that whether the Election Commission (EC) is technically and administratively capable of holding the local polls on June 14 can only be confirmed after holding discussions with EC members and technicians among others.
CEC Yadav pointed out that preparing the new voters’ list, managing equipments for polls in the newly formed local units among others would pose a challenge for the election governing body. Yadav further said that he prepared a plan to complete all necessary preparations for the second phase local polls within one week adding that the consent of EC officials was necessary to meet the deadline.
On a different note, CEC Yadav said that there is no legal provision to grant election symbol to the newly formed Rastriya Janata Party Nepal. He further urged the government to present election friendly budget.
