However, the hearing on the petition ended inconclusively.
The apex court today formed a full bench comprising seven justices to conduct hearing on Nepal Police Inspector General appointment row.
Justices Cholendra Shumsher Rana, Jagadish Sharma Paudel, Deepak Kumar Karki, Kedar Prasad Chalise, Sapana Malla Pradhal, Tej Bahadur KC and Purushottam Bhandari are in the bench.
Meanwhile, the Office of Attorney General have raised objection to the decision of the apex court to directly forward the re-application filed by DIG Silwal to a full bench instead of a single bench.
Earlier, the final hearing on the case was scheduled for May 2 but it was deferred after the lawmakers from ruling Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Centre) registered an impeachment motion against Chief Justice Sushila Karki.
The government had picked Aryal as the chief of Nepal Police on April 10 from among four contenders—Aryal himself, Nawaraj Silwal, Bam Bahadur Bhandari and Jaya Bahadur Chand—after reviewing the marks accumulated by the four top officials in the last four years based on their performance, qualification, seniority and prize, among others.
