Madi locals enforce general strike after girls' death turns suspicious
A general strike has been called in Madi of Chitwan in connection with the death of two girls in Ramrajyapur on Tuesday.A general strike has been called in Madi of Chitwan in connection with the death of two girls in Ramrajyapur on Tuesday.
The transportation along Bharatpur – Madi route was shutdown from early morning as part of the strike, according to District Police Office, Chitwan.
The locals enforced the strike with a claim that the death of the two girls is actually a murder case rather than an incident of drowning in a pond.
The strike was called under the leadership of a women's network affiliated to CPN (Maoist Centre). The girls have bruises in different parts of the body with blood stain raising the suspicion of murder.
Under mounting pressure from the strike enforcers, a team of doctors, police and detectives on Monday carried out an onsite investigation at the incident site.
12 – year – old Deepshika Pariyar and 11 – year – old Deepika Sunar, who were picnicking with friends on Saturday, drowned in a nearby pond. They were rescued in a half-drowned state, but succumbed in the evening.
Confusing post-mortem examination reports have prompted the authorities to hold an investigation at the incident site, Chitwan's Superintendent of Police (SP) Deepak Thapa said.
The girls have bite marks in the sexual organs and ears. Three persons above 16 years of age – who took part in the picnic – have been taken under control for interrogation. The irate locals in Madi are continuing their demonstrations. RSS
