The bailey bridge over the Kalanga river has brought happiness to people of Bangul Municipality-5 in Bajhang district.
The bridge has made it easier for the locals to reach the local market to buy daily goods. Earlier, they had to walk for two days to reach Chainpur, the district headquarters, to buy daily essentials.
“Many facilities and services were not available locally before the bridge was constructed. Now we have shops and other business establishments to cater to our needs,” said Kare Karki, a local man.
Bhawana Kunwar, another local, said they had to go to Chainpur for almost everything from buying foodstuffs to getting documents photocopied before.
“The bridge has brought businesses and services in the village that were unimaginable in the past. We even have shops that sell and repair mobile phones,” she said.
Bikram Okheda of the District Coordination Committee said the bridge has contributed to the economic growth of the village.
“After the bridge was completed, the number of people going to India for jobs has also decreased,” he said.
The bridge has also benefited the people from neighbouring villages.
