Former PM Dahal in field to promote party for phase II polls
CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that he has decided to come to the ground to make his party victorious in the second phase of local level elections slated for June 28.CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that he has decided to come to the ground to make his party victorious in the second phase of local level elections slated for June 28.
The party stands third in the first phase of local polls held on May 14.
Addressing an election assembly at Sotang in Solukhumbu on Friday, the former Prime Minister said that he could not put his full efforts in first phase of local polls as he was helming the premiership.
“I was even unaware of how many places our party had emerged victorious. Only after quitting PM post I came to know that our party obtained chief positions in 46 places and remained second in 52 places” said Dahal, “Now I will participate in promoting the party. The victory will be ours.”
Chairman Dahal further said that regardless of whatever position the party acquires in the local polls, it should be number one in provincial and federal elections.
“The federal republic status will not get institutionalised unless the Maoist party secures number one position,” said Dahal.
Dahal accused Nepali Congress and CPN-UML of not wanting to hold the local polls. He said the parties were in favour of conducting the elections in old structure.
Dahal said that at a time when parties have been carrying particular agendas of Madhes or hills, Maoist Centre has become the only party that takes into account mountain, hill and Madhes commonly into its agenda.
