Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar has said that the third phase of local level elections will be held in mid-October in the districts where second round of elections cannot be conducted.

Taking to journalists at Biratnagar on Wednesday, Gachhadar said the government has been trying to hold the second phase of local polls on June 28 to implement the constitution.

 “I do not support conducting the polls forcefully,” he said, adding “Polls conducted without consensus will ignite conflicts in the country.”

“The third phase of elections can be held in 11 districts if the agitating Rastriya Janata Party Nepal assures of taking part in the polls,” DPM Gachhadar said.

“The second phase of elections will be held in 32 districts on June 28,” he added.

Saying that the constitution could not be amended before the elections, he urged the agitating parties to let go of their stance.
