Earlier in the day, the ruling parties had reached an agreement with the Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal to postpone the elections in Province-2 slated for June 28.
Taking to journalists after holding a meeting with government ministers including Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deubar regarding postponing elections, Yadav said the EC cannot accept the decision to postpone elections yet again. He added that the EC cannot agree on decision as it was made without consulting the election body.
“We are ready to hold the elections in all the remaining provinces on the slated date of June 28,” said CEC Yadav, “We have disagreement on the decision to put off elections to September 18.”
According to EC’s schedule, the political parties should start filing nominations of their candidates for the second phase of local polls from Friday.
