A jeep (Se 1 Cha 1155) veered off the road and plunged some 20 metres at Shivanath Municipality-2 in Baitadi, killing two persons and injuring another. The vehicle was en route to Sharmali from Melauli.
Police identified the deceased as driver Shiva Raj Chaudhary of Kailali district and Lal Singh Mahat of Shivanath-4, Baitadi. Haridutta Bhatta of Melauli Municipality-9, Baitadi, sustained serious injuries in the incident.
He is receiving treatment in Primary Health Centre in Melauli, police said.
In Manang, a passenger jeep met with an accident at Nesyang Village Council-1, killing two persons and injuring 11 others. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Chitra Bahadur Gurung, the Lamjung-bound vehicle (Ga 1 Ja 6602) crashed near Pisang, 11 km north from Chame, the district headquarters. The identities of the deceased were not ascertained as of late Thursday.
Dailekh bus crash victims identified
KALIKOT: Seven of the 11 people who were killed in Wednesday’s bus accident in Dailekh are from Kalikot, police said on Thursday. They were identified as Yuvaraj Shahi, Dharmaraj Shahi, Prakash Shahi, Kabita Shahi, Menaka Pharsal, Prakash Shahi and Shija Sunar.
The other deceased are Singha Nepal, Rupa Nepal and Dhirendra GC of Achham district and Mangal Ukheda of Bajura district, police said.
The bodies were handed over to their families after autopsies were performed at the district hospital on Thursday. The Mahendranagar-bound bus had crashed at Aathbiskot along the Karnali Highway on Wednesday afternoon, killing 11 people and injuring 18 others.
