Pork fest in Pokhara
In a bid to further foster Nepal’s growing appetite for Pork meat, the Pork Festival is scheduled to kickoff in Pokhara on June 16. Organised by the Pig Entrepreneur’s Associaton, an organisation that works towards promoting pork meat in the country, the fest will see 20 stalls featuring a variety of pork dishes, along with information about breeding and rearing pigs.In a bid to further foster Nepal’s growing appetite for Pork meat, the Pork Festival is scheduled to kickoff in Pokhara on June 16. Organised by the Pig Entrepreneur’s Associaton, an organisation that works towards promoting pork meat in the country, the fest will see 20 stalls featuring a variety of pork dishes, along with information about breeding and rearing pigs.
This is the festival’s second iteration in the Lake City.
Speaking about the festival, coordinator of the fest Yogbahadur Acharya said, “We are organising this festival to promote professional pig farming and various pork-based food items. With the help of this festival we want to commercialise pig farming, develop proper methodology regarding pork slaughter and distribution as well as develop the overall market of pork.” He added, “We want to encourage restaurant and hotel owners to include pork as key item in their menus through this fest.”
According to the organisers, the fest will also promote the biggest pig farm in the country which is currently under construction in Lekhnath, Pokhara.
The three-day-long fest will also feature various cultural shows including dance performances, singing competition and more.
