A Malaysian national working for UNICEF has been arrested by police for flying drone in Dolakha headquarters Charikot without taking permission from the authorities.
Tai Ring Th, 52, was arrested while flying the drone from Panaroma Hotel in Charikot. Police has confiscated his drone and its operating laptop.
Flying drone without permission from Home Ministry and Civil Aviation Ministry is illegal in Nepal. But, drones weighing below 2 kilograms and flown at the height of 400 meters and a distance of 500 meters for personal purpose doesn't require any permission from the authorities. However, such drones should not be used for recording videos.
The weight of the drone flown by Tai Ring Th has not been disclosed.
