A massive fire broke out at the factory of Yeti Carpet in Itapa of Bhaktapur Municipality-2 on Saturday night, causing huge destruction of properties.A massive fire broke out at the factory of Yeti Carpet in Itapa of Bhaktapur Municipality-2 on Saturday night, causing huge destruction of properties.
Factory Manager Dharmendra Yadav said the fire started at around 11pm when an electricity transformer next to the factory exploded.
The blaze soon spread through the factory and was further stoked when it caught the fuel storage facility. Two vehciles were also destroyed.
Yadav said properties worth more than Rs 1.5 billion were destroyed. No human casualties were reported in the incident although 35 employees were on duty at the industry at the time.
It took nearly eight hours for fire fighters and security personnel to contain the blaze.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Krishna Prasain said eight fire engines as well as water tankers were employed to douse the fire.
The incident happened on the same night when a fire at a cattle farm in Gokarneshwor, Kathmandu, left scores of people injured and killed 42 cows.
