Prem Geet 2 sneak peek divides opinion
Jun 21, 2017-
As the hype surrounding the upcoming Nepali film Prem Geet 2 heightens, the trailer for the movie was launched via Youtube, amid a press meet held in the Capital on Monday. The trailer, which has already garnered over 320,000 views within a day of its release, suggests that the film has an eye-catching cinematography, but has divided opinions regarding the quality of its plotline, with the trailer receiving more dislikes than likes on YouTube.
Snippets of dialogues from the trailer, some have suggested, will mean that the film’s seemingly glossy presentation merely flatters to decieve. The film has been shot by cinematographer Purushottam Pradhan and is a sequel to the popular 2016 hit Prem Geet.
The press meet on Monday saw a clutch of the film’s cast and crew engage in a discussion with the audience.
“The film is a multi-cultural story. Portraying a love story between two individuals—one Nepali and one from Myanmar—the film is also a love story between countries,” said director Ram Sharan Pathak at the event. The film, according to Pathak, has been shot in various locations in Nepal, Myanmar, and Thailand, and tells the story of lovers who travel across Myanmar to Nepal.
The film features debutant actor Santosh Sen, who is also the producer of the film. Along with Sen, the film features actors Aaslesha Thakuri and Pradeep Khadka in lead roles.
Speaking at the event, Khadka philosophised the film’s theme. “Prem Geet was essentially about how one lover is willing to sacrifice everything for love. While this one takes that narrative further. This sequel is about how even sacrifice might not suffice to save love sometimes,” Khadka said.
Debutant actress Thakuri said that she can’t wait to receive feedback from the audience once the movie hits the screens. “I am excited about the project. I can’t wait to see if the audience likes it. I am sure that the film will win hearts,” Thakuri said.
Filmed under the banner of Aasusen Films Production, Prem Geet 2 is photographed by the veteran cinematographer Purushottam Pradhan, and is written by director Pathak himself.
Earlier this week, climax shots from the film were leaked on the internet, after one of the film’s crew posted it on Facebook, which, the film’s producers said, was unfortunate and crashed some of the plans for its promotion.
The film will hit theatres on July 28.
