World Bank pledges Rs 19.05 billion for school sector reform
The World Bank (WB) has agreed to provide Rs19.05billion ($185 million) loan for the implementation of School Sector Development Programme (SSDP) in Nepal.The World Bank (WB) has agreed to provide Rs19.05billion ($185 million) loan for the implementation of School Sector Development Programme (SSDP) in Nepal.
A financing agreement to this effect was signed and exchanged at the Ministry of Finance on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by Ministry of Finance, the SSDP is a continuation of School Sector Reform Programme whose objective is to improve the quality, equitable access and efficiency of basic and secondary education in Nepal.
“The programme focuses on specific SSDP outcomes during FY 2016/17- Fy2020/21 in main result areas: Improved Teaching-Learning and Student Learning Outcomes, Improved Equitable Access to Basic and Secondary Education and Strengthened Education system, Sector Planning, Management and Governance,” read the statement.
The programme will be implemented by the Department of Education.
