TIA spokesperson Prem Nath Thakur informed that the airport services will be halted for half-an-hour from 4:30pm to 5pm today.
Thakur said that they will conduct a mock drill as part of the International Civil Aviation Organisation regulations that requires an internationally recongnised airports to conduct security drill every two years.
Talking to the Post, spokesperson Thakur said that they will shut down the airport for the time period to conduct a drill comprising of a mock scenario of a plane mishap and the subsequent response to emergency situation.
The airport officials will be using the Airbus 330 series plane with 180 passenger capacity for the drill, informed Thakur, adding that the injured passengers will be flown to Grande Hospital in a helicopter as part of the drill.
