Second phase polls: Silence period to set in from Sunday midnight

The EC is all set to conduct elections in 35 districts of province 1, 5 and 7 on Wednesday.
Local Level Election Directive, 2073, has banned election campaigning after the commencement of silent period that begins 48 hours until the end of the elections.
In a statement on Sunday, Assistant Secretary at the EC Surya Prasad Sharma has called on the political parties and the concerned stakeholders to refrain from electioneering or canvassing through any medium including social networking sites such as facebook and twitter.
The commission has also warned of stern action against anyone found involved in activities against the silence period or election code of conduct.
As per election code of conduct, parties can organise publicity campaigns from 8am to 7pm before the silence period kicks in.
