Namaste Eid, an event which was organised to celebrate togetherness and the richness of Islamic culture, took place at Hotel Annapurna on Wednesday. The event marked the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
Namaste Eid featured Halal food delicacies, stalls for the outlets initiated by young Muslims, traditional fragrance, attar stalls along with the performances reflecting the community’s culture.
Organised by Open Space Network in collaboration with Ghaito, the event was open to people from both Muslim and non-Muslim community. Speaking to the Post about the event, founder of Open Space, Faija Parween, said, “This is the first open Eid event in Nepal which has brought together people from all faiths.
Events like these help promote harmony and positivity, and are helpful to learn about new culture.” She added, “The vision behind this programme is to boost cultural exchange and share Islamic culture with people of different background.
We are also hopeful that this event will help break some stereotypical thinking of people regarding the religion of Islam.” She added that the organisers hope to continue this event in future and hold it annually.
The event wrapped up with a Hijab fashion show, which was also organised for the first time in Nepal. (PR)
