A former police man has been arrested for issuing directive to police chief at District Police Office, Ramechhap, pretending to be a Deputy Inspector of Police General (DIG).
Fifty-two-year-old Man Bahadur KC, a resident of Khanddevi Rural Municipality-2, called DSP at Ramechhap District Police Office Kumod Dhungel, claiming to be DIG Sudeep Acharya, and ordered him to release those arrested on charge of police offence.
Police had arrested one Dawa Sonam Sherpa, of Umakunda Rural Municipality-2, on June 16 and filed a public offence case against him. KC had called the district police chief on July 1 and 2 and directed to release Sherpa at a time when the police were investigating into the case.
KC had addressed Dhungel as ‘brother’ during his phone communication. After suspecting something wrong, DSP Dhungel called DIG Acharya and knew that the latter had not issued such order.
