Six weeks after taking office, Deuba is under pressure to expand the Cabinet. He discussed the agenda with CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Rastriya Prajatantra Party chief Kamal Thapa and senior NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel on Sunday.
Dahal said that he pressed the PM to appoint ministers without further delay. “He assured me that the Cabinet would be expanded by Monday,” Dahal told journalists, claiming that his party has already finalised the list of ministers.
In his meeting with Poudel, Deuba asked for the list of candidates from the faction by Sunday evening. RPP Chairman Thapa was also asked to provide the names of ministers to be inducted from the party. Deuba said he was ready to appoint four ministers from the RPP.
PM’s senior media expert Govinda Pariyar said the ministers would be sworn in on Monday evening or Tuesday morning, after all the parties forward their lists.
