Chairman of CPN Maoist Centre Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said his party would focus on correcting the existing governance system claiming that was crucial to lead the country towards prosperity.
He took around half an hour to clarify journalists present in the party's press meet at Paris Danda on Sunday about the significance of the decision to focus on correcting the governance system of extended secretariat meeting of the party that concluded on Saturday.
All the parties were one on directly elected executive president during the first Constituent Assembly (CA) but Maoists had to compromise in second CA after NC and UML having two-third majority refused to accept the agreement of the first CA, Dahal said.
Maoist Centre has decided to seriously discuss with major parties to convince them on the issue.
"I am confident that both NC and UML would come to this issue as they were afraid of me earlier. Now we have been downsized," the two times prime minister said.
When all the parties focusing on economic prosperity, political stability and national unity is essential and with the existing political system their goals would be impossible to achieve and therefore Maoist Centre would now focus on correcting the governance system.
"No parties could be dictated by the monarchs now nor they fear foreign forces after promulgating constitution themselves," Dahal hinted at foreign forces' possible interference in the move as they have been crucial in meddling in the continuously instable Nepali politics.
Right from the establishment of democracy in 1951 Nepal's politics remained instable with frequent change of guards. Even in the 30 years of Panchayat system monarchy didn't let the Prime Ministers rule for five years. People had expectations of stability after 1990's movement but governments' changed in few years but the frequency increased after the people's movement of 2006 and that further increased after the promulgation of new constitution in 2015.
Dahal's confidence was built after the success of his latest 10 months long government. "If I could do so much of development works in 10 months there are rooms for an executive head to leave some remarkable progress in five years," he said adding that this system would also ensure national unity as powerful executive head would keep the influences away.
In connection with the powerful executive head Maoist Centre has also proposed all-proportional election system claiming that a candidate of Village Council Chairperson spent around 5-7 crores to win the polls. "The expenses for federal parliament could reach 50 crore which is sure to expedite corruption," Dahal said. Such developments would further escalate conflict instead of political stability.
