4 held for hatching plot to abduct businessman

The mastermind of the abduction plot, Ishwor Basnet, of Jwalamukhi Rural Municipality-2, Dhading district, and three others were made public at District Police Office, Chitwan, on Wednesday.
Basnet, who had joined the Armed Police Force in 2007 and deputed at the Sano Gaucharan-based office for four years, left the job in 2011.
The other arrestees are Ram Kirshna Shrestha, Roshan Basnet, and Manoj Shrestha.
According to SP at District Police Office, Chitwan, Deepak Thapa, they had telephoned a businessman of Ratnanagar and demanded Rs 5 million from him and also threatened him to kill if he didn’t pay the money.
All of them had reached Kathmandu via Sauraha of Chitwan and Daman of Makwanpur.
SP Thapa said the detainees were found to have been threatening the businessman from different places by changing SIM Cards.
A joint police team deployed from Mid-Regional Police Office, Hetauda, Regional Investigation Bureau, Metropolitan Police Crime Division and District Police Office, Chitwan nabbed them from Century Guest House at New Bus Park in Kathmandu.
Police swung into action after the victim lodged a complaint.
