Ranjib Sapkota, 14, Sushma Phuyal, 13, and Pradip Phuyal, of Pyauli, Arun Rural Municipalit-3 were found dead under mysterious circumstances at a fish pond of one Toren Karki on June 24.
Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel were deployed at Pyauli, the headquarters of Arun Rural Municipality, for the security during the elections when the incident occurred.
The children went missing while they were playing near the building of Red Cross where Nepal Army personnel were staying.
While carrying out post-mortem at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health and Sciences, doctors found chewing gum-like substances from the mouth of all children.
The report of autopsy has also not been made public yet.
“One month has already passed, but police are yet to find the culprits,” said Chetnath Phuyal, one of the victim’s fathers.
According to DSP Kaji Kumar Achary of the District Police Office, Bhojpur, police are constantly carrying out investigation since the incident occurred.
After the incident remained mysterious, a 20-member struggle committee was formed under the leadership of local Raj Kumar Khatri.
Locals, under the command of struggle committee, enforced a six-hour vehicular strike along the Bhojpur-Leguwa and Naradmuni Thuluing road sections demanding security, martyrs status to the deceased and stern action against the culprits.
The committee obstructed works at the government and non-governmental agencies on Tuesday.
The kith and kin of victims have also reached various judicial agencies demanding effective investigation into the incident.
Newly elected chairperson of Arun Rural Municipality Gajendra Karki said that the investigation should be initiated from the central level as the police team deployed for the investigation failed to reach the conclusion.
“The culprits behind the incident should be booked at the earliest, a team from the central level should be deployed for the same,” he said.
“All the people are scared after the incident. Conducive environment has also not been created for the newly elected representatives to show their performance,” Karki added.
