At least 13 persons were injured in a jeep accident near Jorsal in Phidim Municipality-4 of Panchthar district on Friday.

The incident occurred when the ill-fated jeep (Me 1 Ja 1892) heading towards Memeng of Phalelung from Phidim hit a tipper and fell some 100 metres down the road at around 3 pm today.

The injured have been identified as Ramila Khapangi, her daughter Lucky Khapangi, of Prangbung-5, Birkha Bahadur Gurung, of Memeng, Phalelung Rural Municipality-4, Nima Gurung, of Memang-3, Dawa Gurung, Bal Bahadur Rai, Tej Bahadur Rai, Bal Bahadur Khatri, Bhanubhakta Khanal of Bharpa, Hilihang Rural Municipality-6, Hem Raj Khanal, Mira Tamang and her daughter Sikha Tamang, jeep driver Bikram Rai of Sumnima Chok, Phidim Municipality-3 were injured in the incident.

Preparations are underway to take the critically injured nine persons to a sophisticated hospital in Birtamod, Jhapa.
