NC wants to stop RJP from joining polls: Oli
CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has accused the ruling Nepali Congress of keeping the agitating Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal away from the polls with an aim to win more electoral seats.
On his return from a weeklong visit to the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China, Oli claimed at the Tribhuvan International Airport that the NC blocked the way for a willing RJP-N to participate in the second phase of local polls.
The agitating RJP-N has been accusing the UML of standing against its major demand of constitution amendment as a proposal has been stuck in Parliament in the lack of a two-thirds majority in favour of the bill.
Oli charged that the NC has been plotting not to let the RJP-N join the polls by putting the amendment proposal to a vote in the House without garnering the necessary votes.
Former PM Oli said the federal polls should be held ahead of the provincial elections to ensure implementation of the constitution as a failure to meet the constitutional deadline would be risky for the federal democratic republic taking root.
