A couple allegedly committed suicide by jumping off from Kushma-Jandi suspension bridge in the district headquarters Kushma.

Police’s preliminary investigation has identified the deceased as Akin Gurung, 26, from Dharam sub-metropolis and Muna Rana, 25, from Lalitpur Metropolitan City.

The incident occurred on Saturday night when the couple, who was visiting Mustang, was returning to their residence after strolling around Kushma, according to Police Inspector Madhukar Jung Bista.

“The couple was heading towards Kushma in search of a lodge to stay the night. But when they reached the bridge, the left their bags at the bridge and jumped off,” said Bista.

The reason for their suicide has not been established yet.

District Police Office, Parbat, said the dead bodies will be handed over to the respective families once they arrive.

The dead bodies were found at around 11am Sunday, some 140 metres below the bridge in Modi River.
