Endorsing a special resolution at the party Standing Committee meeting on Monday, the CPN-UML said the decision has insulted people’s mandate and is likely to set a bad precedent for the future.
Cadres of CPN (Maoist Centre) had allegedly torn up 90 ballot papers during the vote counting of the first phase local polls in ward 19 of Bharatpur Metropolis on May 28. On June 3, the Election Commission had decided to conduct re-election in the ward.
Responding to a writ petition filed at the Supreme Court against the EC decision, the apex court on Sunday upheld the EC decision to conduct re-election in Bharatpur Metro-19.
