The SC on Sunday passed the verdict in line with the June 3 EC decision to conduct re-election in Bharatpur-19.
A meeting of EC office bearers on Monday decided to instruct the chief election officer to conduct voting at all polling centres of the concerned ward. On the night of May 28, CPN (Maoist Centre) representatives had allegedly torn 90 ballot papers when counting of votes of Ward 19 was underway. CPN-UML’s Devi Gyawali was leading Maoist Centre’s Renu Dahal, the daughter of then prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, for the mayoral post.
An EC press statement said the election officer has also been instructed to make
necessary security arrangements in line with the court order to protect the election property.
