SC orders judicial remand of Chudamani Sharma
The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday ordered judicial remand of suspended Chief of Inland Revenue Department (IRD) Chudamani Sharma.The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday ordered judicial remand of suspended Chief of Inland Revenue Department (IRD) Chudamani Sharma. Sharma was in the custody of Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
According to Supreme Court (SC) Spokesperson Mahendra Nath Upadhyay, Sharma will be in police custody until the final verdict on the case against Sharma is issued.
Sharma was arrested by a team of anti-graft constitutional body on the charge of misappropriating billions of rupees by settling taxes in a questionable way as a member of the Tax Settlement Commission (TSC) on June 2.
A division bench of Justices Deepakraj Joshi, Deepak Kumar Karki, Kedar Prasad Chalise, Sharada Prasad Ghimire and Anila Kumar Sinha issued the order.
