Tansen-Butwal stretch of Siddhartha Highway has been blocked after a landslide deposited debris on the road at Tinau Rural Municipality-3 on Wednesday. The landslide triggered by incessant rainfall has fallen on the road near Dovan.
According to traffic police chief Prabin Acharya, the landslide debris could not be removed due to continuous rainfall.
Landslides occur frequently at the road stretch from Dovan to Siddhababa during rainy season, thereby obstructing the road. The road remained obstructed as the bulldozer could not work because of rainfall.
Local Bishnu Prasad Pandey said the rain is likely to hit the work to clear debris from the road until the evening. Vehicles heading for Pokhara and Palpa, among other places, from Butwal have been left stranded on the way.
Travellers said that it would be difficult to even walk as the roads are muddy at different places because of delay in construction and maintenance works.
