It’s common to hear about kidnappings of rich people, businessmen for ransom. But in a surprising incident, a worker at a butcher shop has been kidnapped for ransom in Dharan Sub-metropolis of Sunsari district on August 1.
Pratiman Bishwokarma aka Pradeep, who used to work at Bidhyatole-based butcher shop owned by Hajmul Miya in Dharan-17, was kidnapped on Tuesday.
On the night of August 1, Bishwokarma himself made a surprise call to his employer Miya and informed about being kidnapped. According to Miya, he was told over phone to appear at Inaruwa at 12 midnight with Rs 200,000.
“I received a phone call from Pratiman’s number at around 9-10pm. The caller was Pratiman himself and told me that he was kidnapped by a group of four people and was taken in a red van to Inaruwa,” said Miya.
Hajmul further said that when Bishwokarma called him for the second time he said that he had no idea about his whereabouts as the kidnapper had blindfolded him after coming to Inaruwa.
Bishwokarma’s wife Sanu Bishwokarma said that her husband’s number was still on although he was still in the captive of kidnappers.
Slaughterhouse owner Miya and his aide Ram Sarki informed police that Bishwokarma has repeatedly called them requesting to save him from the net of kidnappers.
Police said Ram Sarki has a recorded audio of his conversation with kidnapped Bishwokarma.
On the next day of the kidnapping, Bishwokarma’s relative Suman Gajmer lodged a missing complaint at Area Police Office, Dharan. Police are investigating the case following the complaint, DSP Dhakendra Thapa said.
